What students learn
Students learn the roles of the Affirmative (Pro) and Negative (Con) sides and how to build an argument with Claim, Evidence, and Impact. They take a side in a Four Corners activity, then try quick speed debates or mini-team debates using topic cards, with short opening speeches and rebuttals. Along the way, they practice listening, arguing both sides, and the most important rule: attack ideas, not people. These skills build critical thinking and help students speak up for their community’s needs.
